This wedding was truly such a special one! Not only because Sarah and Chris are dear friends of mine, but also because their wedding reflected everything that matters.
It was important to Chris and Sarah that they got to spend quality time with their guests, many of whom had flown down from around the world for the occasion, so they decided to make it a two-day affair! Saturday was relaxed, with lawn games, swimming in the gorgeous dam, and a bon-fire in the evening. With Sarah originally being from Germany, there were some fun German traditions included in the festivities, and these happened throughout the course of the evening. Plenty of fun and laughter ensued!
The wedding ceremony took place on the Sunday morning in the most gorgeous little forest at the De Uiljenes. Such a magical location to get married! The rain that threatened would not sway Chris and Sarah from getting married there! And so they said their loving vows while it gently drizzled down on us.
In the early morning, Chris and Sarah had met for their special “first look”, after which we took some couple photos in the beautiful surroundings. This meant that Sarah and her bridesmaids got up at 5am to get ready! Little did they know, that there would neither be running water nor electricity! I just loved Sarah’s relaxed attitude as they got her ready in candle light! Great work, team bridesmaids!
This wedding came together as such a labour of love! From the Friday Night, friends and family worked hard to set everything up to make this rustic DIY wedding such a success. This personal touch really added to the atmosphere of the wedding.
Now for the photographs!
First a couple of images from the Saturday…
The next day, circa 5.15am… Getting ready in candle light!
The handsome groom, awaiting his beautiful bride.
Sarah wore her mother’s wedding dress, which she had altered. Sarah’s mom only discovered this on the day of the wedding!
This was a serious tear-jerker moment! “Chris, I give my daughters hand to you. And both of your hands I give to God”
